Overview
Through the Built Environment program, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hanyang University integrates structural engineering, materials engineering, and geotechnical engineering to address key challenges facing future cities and infrastructure, including sustainability, resilience, and the application of smart technologies.
Research in this field actively explores the creative use of high-performance structural materials and composite systems, enhancement of structural resilience against hazards, analysis of soil–structure interaction, smart sensor–based monitoring, risk assessment, and reliability analysis.
In addition, advanced methodologies—such as material and ground characterization, integrated numerical and experimental analysis, and design and management technologies using artificial intelligence and digital twins—are employed to develop innovative solutions for complex urban challenges and natural or man-made disasters.
