Park’s primary interests are soil dynamics and soil-structure interaction simulation, focusing on developing innovative and robust computational algorithms. He has participated in many government funded projects including seismic site response analysis, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, slope stability, seismic design of port and underground structures, characterization of soils with elastic and electric waves, micro-scale particle-fluid dynamic interaction analysis. He has currently expanded his research area to the fields of offshore engineering and energy geotechnology. The related topics include simulation and design of mega suction pile for offshore platforms and fluid-solid-thermo coupled CFD modeling of geothermal heat pump systems and thermosyphons.
