Since new technologies are emerging to automate construction and maintenance processes, Professor Seo is pursuing the state-of-the-art research and development in construction and civil infrastructure include both soft and hard automation. He is mainly focusing on design/construction/ maintenance/operation automation, innovative sensing and information technologies for infrastructure monitoring and maintenance. Low carbon construction equipment operating system, flexible BIM system for design, construction and maintenance of alignment-based civil structure, and infrastructure maintenance system based on BIM are his recent research projects.
