Natural geomaterials exhibit a wide range in size, physical properties, chemical properties, and mechanical behaviors. Soils that are composed of mixtures of particles with different physical and chemical properties pose a challenge to characterization and quantification of the engineering properties. Thus, our first research area is the characterization/synthesis of various physical-chemical mixed soils.

The combination of geotechnics, geophysics, and geochemistry is the essential driving force for innovation in the characterization/synthesis of various physical-chemical mixed soils or new engineered soils. Thus, our research group merges geotechnics, geophysics, and geochemistry.
